Hey you! Welcome. Erica Dunomes is my name. All things cosmetology has been a passion of mine from a very young age. In fact, there are two instances I can recall that lit the fire in my heart for work in the beauty industry:
- The day my cousin put makeup on my face when I was about five years old and turned me towards the mirror.
- Seeing Victoria Principal all glammed up on the cover of a book in the school library.
In both moments, I was in awe of the beauty that makeup and creative hairstyles made. Growing up, I would play in my mom’s makeup, put on her high heel shoes, and carry her empty purses. I started combing my own hair at the age of ten.
After graduating from high school in 1999, I enrolled in cosmetology school. I was on my way to pursuing my dream. During this time, I had clients that I would go to their homes personally and style their hair. Talk about fun times! Back then, hairstyles were simpler too. However, I became pregnant. Juggling the two was quite a challenge. So, I dropped out and waited for better times to pursue my dream again.
Finally, in the year 2012, after having put it off for so long and doubting I’d ever really have the chance to, I decided to go again for a license in cosmetology. With the help of my husband and family, I was able to see it through. I graduated in 2014. I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist ever since.
How BeautE on the Go came to be
BeautE on the Go was a God-given idea. I still recall the moment that God gave it to me so vividly. I was sitting at one of the computers at then Virginia College of the Gulf Coast. I believe I was entering information for a beginning resume when the idea hit me. God gave me the idea to be a traveling cosmetologist, going into the homes of mainly women, offering them the opportunity to receive professional beauty services of salon quality all while being in the comfort of their own homes.
The “E” in BeautE represents me. Another way you can say it is…. I am Erica on the Go. I am the stylist that comes to you.
As you can see from my backstory above, this is something that I have had the pleasure of doing now for 20+ years. I’ve also had the pleasure of serving some amazing women. It doesn’t look like I’ll be stopping any time soon. Will I be coming to you next?
